America’s Army (the game, that is)
I like to play computer games, and one of my favorites is “America’s Army“. I like the game so much, that I’m in a gaming clan called 158th Regimental Combat Team.
The clan takes its name from the original 158RCT that served during World War II in the Pacific Campaign. The symbol on the 158RCT shoulder patch - the Bushmaster - is the snake they encountered in Panama while training up for their eventual combat in the jungle islands of the Pacific.
The game itself is, in reality, a recruiting tool for the Army. Therefore, it’s free. Naturally, you would think that something that is free would be poor in quality, but I can honestly say that AA is not. It’s set up to boost both team work and competitive play, and the graphics - although perhaps not at the bleeding edge of gaming technology - are still very good. On-line play against other gamers is the standard way of playing, and you regularly meet players from around the world.
So, if you are a gamer, and you’ve never tried AA, head over to their main website and download it. It’s not small, and you’ll be downloading for awhile, but I believe you will find it worth the effort. As a soldier, I can vouch for the authenticity of many elements in the game and besides, as I said, it’s free. And, once you’ve played for awhile, come see us over at 158th.
