Waiting in Kuwait
29 1300 AUG 06 - At present, I am sitting in a tent in Kuwait, at a place called Ali Al Salem, waiting for my flight back to the United States for R&R. You get damn little sleep when you are traveling via the military, because they always want you to be somewhere at 0200 or something crazy like that, for a flight that’s not going to leave until later that night. Then, you try to get a few minutes of sleep wherever you can, and whenever you can, praying you don’t sleep through the alarm on your wrist watch so you don’t miss some other time hack for yet another meeting you have to be at.
For this flight, I’ll likely be stopping in Ireland on the way back. Then, landing in Dallas, Texas where I’ll get on another plane to my final destination back home. All told, I’m probably looking at another 24 hours of travel time.
