Well this sucks. Prop 405 has been dropped due to insufficient number of signatures, so it won’t be on the November ballot in Phoenix, Arizona. Prop. 405, if it had been approved by the voters, would have made it legal (and a requirement) for a Phoenix police officer to arrest an illegal alien, for the crime of being an illegal alien - something they are not allowed to do right now. I don’t know the full story on this issue, but it sounds like poor organization and planning on the part of the sponsors, known as “Protect Our City”. The sponsors say they are going to appeal the judge’s ruling, but I’m not holding my breath. It’s a real shame when a cop can’t arrest someone for doing something illegal. Meanwhile, the taxpayers will continue to pay for illegal immigrant welfare and healthcare, while the big businesses will continue to benefit from the cheap labor

On the flip side, it seems like some of the steam has gone out of the pro-illegal immigration crowd. The latest “big” rally in Los Angeles wasn’t so big.
