At Bliss
Today, we went through some redeployment briefings and medical screenings. Luckily, I’m what they call Active Guard/Reserve, so many of the briefings didn’t apply to me (because I’ll stay on active duty), so I got out of most of them.
The “traditional” Guardsmen (those that normally only come in one weekend a month) were tied up all day. For them, the medical screenings are extremely important, because if they have a medical issue and they don’t take care of it now while they are still on active duty, the Veteran’s Administration won’t help them with it in the future. Some of them are looking at staying at Fort Bliss for several weeks after we leave - which has really got to suck.
