This is my last post before I click on “start” - “turn off computer” - “turn off” and pack up my laptop to go home.

Tonight, I get on an airplane and fly to Kuwait. I’ll land at a base called Ali Al Salem. Hopefully, we’ll stay there for a day and then get on the “freedom flight” back to the good old U.S. of A. If we’re unlucky, we’ll be trucked down to Camp Virginia to stay there for a couple of days. I say unlucky, because Ali Al Salem’s not a bad place to hang out and I don’t know what would be in store for us at Camp Virginia.

As I said in an earlier post, I don’t know if I’ll be keeping up this blogging upon my return. I’ve been blogging like a madman the last few days, mostly because I’ve been so damned bored waiting for this plane ride. Will I keep it up when I return? I don’t know. It was one of my hobbies here, and it helped pass the time. Back home, with a wife and 3-year-old demanding my attention, I don’t know that I’ll keep it going. My wife already doesn’t understand why I feel compelled to do this (for no material gain).

I have, however, prepared myself to keep this thing going. I’ve branched into politically punditry and I’m just now starting to get noticed by some of the bigger bloggers. Maybe, someday, those Google ads you see above this post will actually start to pay me something.

So, if you don’t see anything new in this space for the next couple of days, it’s because I’m traveling - not because I’ve given up.

To all my fellow American service members - army, air force, navy, marine and coast guard - serving here in Iraq, Afghanistan, or some other hell-hole on this planet; I say to you “God Bless” and may you return home soon to your loved ones - in one piece.
