La Shawn Barber, a conservative blogger who also happens to be African-American and female (who would of thunk?) beats me to the punch with this post about how Black Americans see themselves as the “priviledged” minority, above all other minorities. However, they’ve taken on the mantle of being “oppressed” - while other minorities (Asians in particular) have excelled, particularly in academics.

Why? According to a Blogger Ed, who says he is half-Korea:

“Frankly I think the black community is overly fixated on race as an issue instead of actually concentrating on fixing problems. And I think the whole race issue tends to lead blacks towards infantilism where failure isn’t really their fault, it’s the ‘Man’ who did it…I know a black guy who works as a supervisor for a large railroad. Makes over $80k a year, great benefits, fully paid pension, etc. And yet this guy looks me in the face and sobs out that he feels oppressed. Oppressed?!”

I recently heard a quote from Jesse Jackson, in which he whined about the lack of Blacks in charge of talk shows. HELLO! Has he not heard of Oprah Winfrey? That woman is so rich and powerful she could buy half of Hollywood. Millions of White women tune into her every day. So where is the oppression there?

You never hear Asians whining because they are not represented well in Hollywood, or for any other reason. They just do what they have to do to improve their lots in life, without crying about how “The Man” is keeping them down. Where is the Asian talk show? Where is the Asian sitcom? Where is the Asian newscasters? There’s damned few of them out there, if any. Do you hear them crying? Of course not! What they are doing is going to school, and excelling, despite some of the jealous hatred leveled at them by some other minority groups.

If the Asians can do it, why can’t the other ethnic groups?
