Back to Iraq
Can’t say I’m surprised, but the Pentagon is announcing that it will have to break its 24-month deployment limit policy and will be sending Army National Guard brigades back to Iraq for a second tour. I’ve already known at least two smaller units in my own state that are being called up for their second tour, so I would only expect the larger formations to do the same.
What does all this mean? The Pentagon needs the National Guard and Reserves to fight its wars, and the Army must fund the National Guard - which it usually treats as a red-headed step-child - to keep its equipment up-to-date.
