Because of Iraq, I was gone for a year
A liberal political action group called Vote Vets Action Fund is running an ad which essentially says that all of our problems are “because of Iraq”. Here’s the initial version, with a hat tip to Hot Air.
Now, lots of people throw additional credence to a group because it has veterans as its spokesmen. As an OIF vet myself, I’m not impressed. There’s conservative soldiers and there are liberal soldiers, so no two soldiers will express the same opinion on world and national events or policies. I used to have lively debates with a fellow officer who happened to be liberal. He was usually outnumbered (as most of us leaned right) but he held his ground and gave good points, so kudos to him.
However, this Vote Vets group was forced to put out an updated version of their ad, because one of the spokesmen proved to be a fraud. All of his portions of the ad were cut out. Here’s the second version, with Joshua Landale’s portions removed. Gateway Pundit has the run-down on Landale’s issues here.
Not to be outdone, Scrappleface joins in the fun with his own version of that ad.
Let’s see here, because of Iraq terrorists hate us and want to attack us. Funny, I don’t remember us having invaded Iraq when Khobar Towers was bombed, when the American Embassies were blown up, when the USS Cole was attacked, when the World Trade Center was attacked the first time, and in 2001 when nearly 3,000 people were killed on 9-11. But, according this ad, terrorists are the meanies that they are “because of Iraq”. How very simplistic, unrealistic, and idiotic. But hey, that’s the Left for you.
