Home!
I’m finally HOME!
We drove by bus for six hours and arrived to a cheering crowd of family, friend, well-wishers, and a ton of media. Thankfully, the general who was there didn’t speak and we were able to get out of there very quickly. A few of the guys made the paper, local radio and television.
I’m now on leave for a couple of weeks before I go back to work, and I’ll take a few more weeks off in December.
Unfortunately, I discovered upon my return home that my home computer has some major issues. In fact, right now I’m blogging from a pay WiFi site, so I can’t be doing that every day. So, it may be a day or two until I can get my laptop up and going on our home cable system. In other words, you may not see a post tomorrow.
Until then - VOTE REPUBLICAN! The gun rights you save may be your own!

Don’t worry about voting for a good person, just as long as it says Republican next to the office your voting for.
Of course Mr. Foley’s name is still on the ballot, but hey vote for this pervert, it says republican next to his name.
Mr. Delay’s name is on the ballot, but hey vote for him it says republican next to his name.
Never mind that ethical mistakes forced him out of the election, his name is there next to where it says republican.
The lack of intellengence shown by someone who would vote straight party line and not consider the character of the person they are voting for, is scary and dangerous.
Welcome home, good job.
Of course you don’t vote for someone who has ethical issues. However, unless the Republican in question is absolutely noxious, I would rather vote for a weak Republican - who will tend to support legislation that I support - than a Democrat who I know will not support the measures I feel are correct.
By the way, when was the last time you voted anything other than Democrat?
Finally, thanks for the really patronizing “good job”. I’m sure it was heart-felt.
I voted for Richard Nixon the first time, wow what a mistake that was. What a crook he was.
I voted for Gerry Ford, to bad he lost to Carter. Ford was right to pardon Nixon. I still like President Ford, but I fear soon we will lose him.
I voted for Regean the first time, not the second. This is a good example to debate Rep/Dem politics, if your interested.
I did not vote for Bush I, but he had a much better ideology than his son does.
I voted for Clinton, and I yearn for the federal budget to be balanced again.
I have not voted Dem or Rep since then (in the Presidential elections).
In offices below the President I have voted for both Rep’s and Dems.
I would say the average over the years is 55% Rep., 35% Dem., 10% Ind.
I vote for the person not the party.
Including Nixion’s administration (most of whom ended up in jail) I have never lived through such a criminal, hypocritical, lying administration as George W. Bush’s!
Yes, I’m an older guy who believes in defense, military, truth, justice, and the American way. Which is NOT what I see in most politicians today, from either side.
When Nixon left office the debt was 700 Billion. When Carter left office the debt was 1.7 Trillion. When Ford left office the debt was 2.2 Trillion. When Regean left office the debt was 5.9 Trillion. When Bush-I left office the debt was 6.9 Trillion. When Clinton left office the debt was 7.5 Trillion ( Clinton was the ONLY one who had a yearly balanced budget). By the time Bush-II leaves office the debt will be 10 Trillion.
So over the years Rep’s have had power for 29 years, Dem’s for 12 years. It’s fair to say that Rep’s are responsible for 9 Trillion dollars of debt.
No serious effort (maybe Clinton) has been made to attack that debt in over 40 years.
During this time the Congress has spent the social security money on everything but social security (usually wars).
If that money had been left alone, there would be no problem with social security and even the Rep’s would be fighting to keep it, as it is.
Incidents of curroption, lies, theft, immorality, ect., ect… are about the same for both Dem’s and Rep’s, BUT the Rep’s have held the Whitehouse more than twice as long as the Dem’s, so the number of incidents like this is MUCH higher on the Rep side.
No party can claim to be morally superior to another; and if you believe otherwise, you have been duped. These are all humans, with human failings.
When you are President, the party platform goes out the window, you do what you think is best for the country. That’s why I vote for a person, not a party.
The Dem’s of the 1930’s never intended to start a welfare state, they were reacting to the needs of the people during the depression, which the Rep’s did not respond to, which is why they lost to Roesevelt. The Dem’s were right.
By the way, social security was supposed to be a temporary program! Both parties found it to their benefit to continue this program.
When the Rep’s of the 1950’s approved the national highway system and a new Dept. of Transportation, the last thing they wanted was to double the growth of the federal government. Ike convinced them it was imperative for the country, and he was right.
I could go on with examples of Dem’s and Rep’s who have had to do things against their basic ideology for the good of the country.
Presidential politics are situational. A President who does not respond to the cries of the people, is not a leader.
Our current President has said that ALL people of the world should have a democratic government and be free. Sounds good, I agree. But Not at the point of a gun!
No matter how good the ideology, if it is forced on people it is no better than communisum, socialism, or any other system forced on people over the centuries.
If I could convince the people of China that freedom and democracy would make their lives better, would they approve the U. S. invading their country, I doubt it.
And we should not offensively force our system on other countries. Keeping bad guys in check, is a different question.
LBJ’s lies were not worth almost 60,000. dead Americans. Bush’s lies are not worth more dead Americans.
If we are serious about the war on terror, why are we not fighting anywhere else than Iraq? Why have we allowed the terrorists to take over in Samollia, or N.E. Africa? Why aren’t we in Asia fighting Islamic terrorists? Are Islamic terrorists ONLY in Iraq?
This is a Bush-Rumsfeld geo-political game, and it IS reasonable for Americans to question if it is worth the death of their young men!
I’ve ranted to long. My point is: don’t drink the party kool-aid, don’t blindly follow party ideology without question, be subjective, more open minded, question politicians motivations, they are after power NOT your concerns of the future or the future of our country.
You are a soldier (thank you for serving) and maybe it is less within you to question authority, but that IS the way to check the abuse of power.
No. I’m not cut and run, I am unhappy about the manner in which this President has fought this war on terror, and the reasons he has given the American people. I find him less than truthfull.
Because I disagree with the President you think my “job well done” comment is insincere and patronizing. You are wrong, it is heart felt.
This shows your failure to judge people properly and just respond with party talking points. I have sincerely tried to point out why that is a mistake.
With that attitude we probably would have no chance in an exchange of political discussion. Enjoy your security of knowing only ONE side has all the answers.
