Liberals show their ignorance about the military
The level of ignorance (and malevolence) shown by most Liberals concerning the military and military operations continues to amaze me. To illustrate my point, watch this short video.
Seems pretty straight-forward, right? Troops sending home holiday messages - nothing wrong with that, wouldn’t you say?
Not so over at ThinkProgress. To them, this is yet another example of the Pentagon brainwashing our servicemembers. Why the hubbub? Because there is a replica of the World Trade Center towers behind those Air Force personnel as they give their messages. Obviously, the devious Pentagon is telling the troops that Saddam had something to do with 9/11!
Now, I was never at LSA Adder, so I can’t say for sure. However, this is my bet on how these videos really went down. First, the replicas of the WTC were constructed by servicemembers at that base some time ago to honor the 9/11 victims. The Dept. of Defense didn’t come down to that FOB and have it built. Second, when the film crew went to that particular base, they looked for some sort of background they could use for the messages, saw that memorial, and decided to use it. So, nothing nefarious by the DoD - just used the monument because they thought it interesting or appropriate in the wider war on terror.
The kids over at Think Progress are obviously not nearly as enlightened. Here’s some of their comments about that video:
“War Pig produced propoganda. Satan laughing spreads his wings.”“The scumbags have no shame.”
“They have no shame, they continue to exploit the troops. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and anyone else who approved this disgraceful act deserve to have a special place hell.”
I can tell you this - not once while in training for deployment or during my actual deployment, did anyone in a uniform tell me that we were in Iraq because of 9/11, or that Saddam had anything to do with those attacks. The party line I heard was this - “We are in Iraq to help stand up the Iraqi Security Forces so they can deal with the insurgency themselves and we can get the hell out of this country.”
