Patriot Guard protects soldier’s funerals
I had never heard of the Patriot Guard Riders before, but then I saw a Time photo essay on the group and all I can say is - what a group of great Americans! I really think they are performing a tremendous service, namely, protecting the families of fallen warriors in our current global war on terrorism, against the incredibly outrageous protests that sometimes accompany those warrior’s funerals. See the Time photo essay here.
Who would protest at a soldier’s funeral you might ask? Your first thought would probably be one of the Cindy Sheehan types. In some cases that might be true. However, the most nefarious group has actually been a conservative one - The Westboro Baptist Church.
This group is so convinced that God is angry at the United States for allowing some homosexual activity, that the death of troops in Iraq and Afghanistan is the punishment for our inequities. As their website says, “2,737 - WBC prays for it to be 273,700!”
How pathetic. For something even more pathetic, watch this.

Thank you for your service sir. My sister just arrived in the states today from Iraq (4th ID). I’m glad you both made it home safely.
I wanted to let you know that I referenced your post on my site regarding the Patriot Guard. Here’s the link: Westboro Has Almost Too Much Attention.
Thanks ronald!
