If you hadn’t heard this already, Michael Richards, the actor more commonly known by his character “Cosmo Kramer” on the Seinfeld television show, went on a racist rant against a couple of African-American audience members who were heckling him. Unluckily for him, it was all caught on tape. See below. Word of warning - lots of cursing and racial epithets.

All that was bad enough. Then, he went on the David Letterman show last night to apologize. If the original rant wasn’t surreal enough, this apology (below) was. Watch the whole thing (6 minutes) to see what I am talking about. Not only does he ramble incoherently, he goes on and on about race relations, Iraq, Katrina - somehow feeling guilty as a white (and liberal) person for every supposed ill in the world.

Afro-Americans? (When was the last time that term was used?)
He thinks this is going to spark a Black backlash against Whites?
What does Katrina have to do with anything?
FORCE FIELD?!? What the hell?
This is crazy, I’m not a racist! Hmm, maybe you are.
Personal work? Damn skippy.
