The liberal blogs and the liberal Hollywood types have been keeping up a drum-beat about the Darfur and how we should intervene - militarily if necessary. Heck, even the Sheehan crowd is calling for intervention!

(Funny how the liberals push for a war that has no real benefit for the United States, but are trying desperately to help us lose a war that we are in no position to fail at.)

They may just get their wish. The U.S. and the U.N. are starting a little saber-rattling against the Sudanese government to get them to allow U.N. peace-keepers into the Darfur area. Threats have included no-fly zones, sanctions, and war crimes. The Sudanese have until 1 JAN to comply, or else!

The really ironic thing about this is, the liberals keep saying that our presence in Iraq and Afghanistan is serving no purpose other than to just drum up support for radical jihadis. Based on that theory, why are they pushing so hard for intervention in a country that is run by Muslims? Won’t our intervention get the same jihadi response? Survey says…Yes!

The Sudanese government says it will never allow U.N. troops into the country. It also says this is all about oil. Wasn’t that the liberal explanation for why we invaded Iraq, for oil?

Let’s say we do intervene in Sudan. That would mean lots of bases. Which company do you think would have a pretty good shot at getting the main logistical contracts? Can you say, Halliburton? I thought you liberals hated Halliburton! Why would you give them another place to make money?

And how long do you think we’d have troops there? If Kosovo is any indication, a long damn time. Doesn’t that go against your whole mantra about how we shouldn’t be tieing our troops down in one spot, no more Vietnams, blah, blah, blah?

What about those eeeeevil contract security guys? Hmm, might have to hire a few of them too. Suddenly, your humanitarian effort is turning into a “mercenary” conflict and even more soldiers will be leaving the military for those lucrative jobs.

Sure, sure, I know. This is all for humanitarian reasons, and I completely understand. Really, I do. If I get called up to go to Sudan, so be it. However, can you not see the parallels between what we are dealing with in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the Darfur?

Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it.
