Although I was technologically challenged, I’ve been tracking the story of deplorable conditions at the primary hospital wounded warriors are sent to, Walter Reed.

With the president fighting an uphill battle to maintain momentum in Iraq while battling overwhelming levels of criticism at home, the last thing he needed was this kind of scandal. So, the heads are rolling.

First, it was the hospital’s commander, MG Weightman. Now, it’s the Army Secretary himself.

Frankly, it’s disgraceful that any wounded soldier would have to put up with substandard conditions while they are on the mend, or trying to put their lives back together after a serious injury. They deserve far better than this, and this is the least that should happen. Reportedly, there’s going to be a major investigation on the standards of care at all military hospitals, and knowing how the military works, there will be substantial changes where need be - and plenty of CYA at the same time.

It’s sad, frustrating, and appalling that it takes this kind of scandal for the government to do right by its battle-damaged troopers.
