Operation Iraqi Freedom is now four years old, as the left is gleefully announcing, with some interesting comparisons:

These four years have raced by so quickly! It seems like only yesterday when our Iraq War was just a newborn and the Marines were faking that whole “Iraqis cheer as U.S. troops show their total disrespect by draping an American flag over the Saddam statue” photo op. It’s hard to believe that millions of people have already been blown up, tortured, executed, maimed or chased to another country when our little Iraq War is still in diapers.

Thanks for the analogy, very appropriate..ugh.

But what of Operation Enduring Freedom? That’s been going on longer - since 7 OCT 2001. Yet, only the most far-left windbags complain about that one. While all I hear from the left is how Iraq is a quagmire and we need to pull our troops out, the opposite is true for Afghanistan.

I can’t remember that last time someone referred to Afghanistan as a quagmire, or made a stink over the deaths of servicemembers, or talked about “blood for oil”. Yeah, there’s been some of the socialist, Michael Moore types with that kind of rhetoric, but in all, it’s been very subdued. In fact, you generally hear calls for MORE troops in Afghanistan.

I guess it’s the politically-correct war.
