2007 Milblogging Conference underway
Every year, milbloggers (bloggers who focus on military matters) from around the country gather at the Milblogger Conference. I’m not there, and hadn’t really planned to go (my wife doesn’t understand this hobby of mine), but perhaps I’ll go in the future.
I had thought my own blogging days were through with the publication of the Army’s new OPSEC regulation. In Iraq, we were tightly controlled in our posts on blogs - and I understood that. Now, the Army has extended that level of control to all Army personnel - even those of us here at home. But, it appears the Army has felt the heat and backed down from the regulation somewhat. I think the support of the President has only helped. Here he is, addressing this year’s MilBlogger convention in Arlington, VA.
Every milblogger gets into this for different reasons, and here’s a video explaining why some do this. For me, it was never about money. It started out as a way to connect to family and friends and it just kind of expanded from there. Now that I’m back home, it’s about putting out the good word on behalf of my brothers and sisters over there.
