Yet another reason I got into blogging was to counter-act some of the egregiously inaccurate information coming from the left side of the political aisle when it comes to the military, Iraq, and the overall war on terrorism.

Today, I’d like to point out the difference between American “torture” and that perpetuated by our enemies in Iraq.

First, American “torture” at Abu Ghraib - which was more like a bad fraternity hazing. I’m not saying it was right - on the contrary, it was incredibly wrong. Not only was it wrong to treat prisoners that way, but its publication around the world solidified in many people’s minds that the U.S. military were not the guys wearing the white hats in this conflict. Those very foolish and amoral guards caused untold numbers of their fellow soldiers to be killed, and they should rot in prison.

As bad as that stupidity was, it continues to be nothing compared to the real torture exacted by our enemies in Iraq - Al Qaeda - which consists of breaking limbs, electrocution, hacking off of limbs, pulling out eyeballs, burning with blowtorches, and on and on. Go here, to see captured Al Qaeda drawings of torture techniques and photos of some of their victims. Warning - it’s not pleasant.
