Chavez continues to collect power, left gives him a pass
For all of you on the left who continue to believe that Hugo Chavez is really a super-swell guy, can you please explain to me why he continues to do stuff like this?

You fools are so convinced that George W. is out to take over the world and remove all of our rights, yet you give the budding new dictator of Venezuela a complete and total pass. In fact, you continue to talk about how wonderful he is. Yet, here he is, forcefully taking over a radio station that, oh by the way, was in opposition to his policies.
UPDATE - Venezuelans aren’t taking this march to fascism lying down. Gateway has links ‘o plenty.
UPDATE - I saw an interesting line of discussion at the Democratic Underground, a decidely liberal website. One side of the debate thinks anyone opposing Chavez has got to be a rich industrialist trying to keep the proletariat down. So, any rights Chavez takes away from them is somehow okay. The other side sees Chavez for what he is - a communist dictator. One commentator even claims members of his family have been imprisoned by Chavez. Some actually point out that they can’t believe that the same people who cry out against the supposed rights taken away by the Patriot Act, are the same people who think Chavez is doing the right thing here. Of course, that’s my point exactly.
