Damn, another stumbling block to blogging
Wow, just when I see a light at the end of the tunnel with this whole Army-trying-to-cut-off-milblogging deal, I then discover that I shouldn’t be bad-mouthing Democrats.
Per Department of Defense Directive 1344.10, no person on active duty shall:
E3.3.9. Participate in any radio, television, or other program or group discussion as an advocate for or against of a partisan political party, candidate, or cause.E3.3.11. Use contemptuous words against the officeholders described in 10 U.S.C. 888 (reference (b)…
And who does 10 U.S.C. 888 call an officeholder?
…the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.
I knew all along that I couldn’t belittle anyone in my chain of command, all the way up to the President. However, I didn’t realize I couldn’t bad-mouth certain politicians that tend to raise my ire.
*Sigh*
This may be the end after all. Without that kind of material, I’m reduced to making fun of and complaining about Rosie O’Donnell and generic “liberals”. This is taking all the fun out of this little hobby of mine.
I know there’s plenty of other milbloggers that have eventually thrown in the towel on this business because of these types of restrictions. I’m afraid I may be the next in line.
More to follow.
UPDATE - Sadly, I feel I’ve been forced to go through all of my old posts and delete any that make reference to either political party, any sitting member of Congress, or senior government official, in any sort of negative light. There may be one or two I missed.
From now on, I won’t be making disparaging comments about anyone fitting the descriptions in 10 U.S.C. 888. You’ll probably see some references to “conservatives” or “liberals”, but that’s about it. If I find that it is getting to be too tedious, I may just forget about this blogging business.

This has to be one of the stupidest policies I have ever heard of -
