Top Taliban leader killed
Top Taliban commander Mullah Dadullah (now that’s a catchy name) was killed Saturday in a U.S.-led operation.
Mullah Dadullah, a top lieutenant of Taliban leader Mullah Omar, was killed Saturday in the southern province of Helmand, said Said Ansari, the spokesman for Afghanistan’s intelligence services. NATO confirmed the death, calling it “a serious blow” to the insurgency.Dadullah is one of the highest-ranking Taliban leaders killed since the fall of the hard-line regime following the U.S.-led invasion in 2001. His death represents a major victory for the Afghan government and the international coalition that has struggled to contain a Taliban-led insurgency wracking the south and east of the country.
MEMRI’s got a whole slew of videos from this guy, rattling off the usual “we will kill the crusader infidels” and talking about beheading those who assist NATO forces in Afghanistan.
Here’s the Mullah in happier times…
As good as it is that we off’d this guy, you know someone else will replace him soon. Hopefully, we’ll continue to give these guys their well-deserved dirt naps and the next guy will be less likely to step up to the plate to take over.
