Spencer explains the Quran, using the installment plan
If you have more than a passing interest in finding out why jihadis do the things they do, or Muslim clerics declare that beating one’s four wives is perfectly acceptable, than I urge you to do a little homework by reading the analysis of the Quran by Robert Spencer.
Spencer, who normally writes for Jihad Watch, is presenting the Quranic Cliff Notes at Hot Air, Surah (chapter) by Surah. His explanations are thorough, easy to understand, and gives those of us in the West a better understanding of why those f’ing jihadi crazies do the crap they do.
Believe it or not, I read the entire Quran (more than 1,000 pages) when I found out I was getting deployed. I did it so I could better understand the culture I was about to be immersed in. My impressions? I’m not converting to Islam anytime soon. As a bed-time reader, it’s a bore. You’d think, since the Quran is supposed to be the direct words of Allah, that Allah could come up with some snappier prose.
In all fairness, trying to read the Bible through and through can also be a bit tedious - and that’s coming from a Christian.
