Daily Kos running away from “Killitary” post
The Daily Kos, the Democratic Party’s online cheer leading squad, which is run by a guy who used to be in the Army, recently featured a diary post by somebody called “liquidman” which essentially said that the military creates serial killers. Now, DKos and the rest of the “progressive” blogosphere are running away from that post as fast as there little liberal legs can carry them.
The diary was originally posted on Thursday, July 19. It produced such a backlash from both liberal and conservative supporters of the military, that it was yanked, reportedly, by Kos himself shortly thereafter. A cross-post at In Cold Blog disappeared shortly thereafter. Luckily, Little Green Footballs has the goods here, and the In Cold Blog post can be found here, saved by LGF.
Why all the hubbub? Well, it’s statements like this:
…the United States military is doing absolutely nothing to help soldiers deal with the psychological effects of their murderous training. They merely pat them on the back, thank them for a job well done, and pull up the next impressionable young man or woman and stick them in the meat grinder.
To deal with the problem, Kilner suggests justification “because, at least some killing in war is morally justifiable, military leaders have a duty to understand that justification, to train their soldiers to kill only when it is justified, and to explain to their soldiers why it is justified.” In other words, if you give a soldier a supposedly legitimate reason to kill another human being, such as self-defense, it may be easier for the soldier to cope with the outcome of his actions.
That seems a bit simplistic, especially when soldiers are firing randomly at civilians because they believe everyone in Iraq is a “terrorist.” Unfortunately, killing, whether justifable or not, is going to warp the killer’s mind in some fashion, and probably to an unrecoverable point.
Americans should begin to see the effects of the Iraq war veterans’ killing sprees here in our own country very soon. Most serial killers and mass murderers tend to be in their mid 20s to mid 30s.
The newest crop of Charles Whitmans and Jeffrey Dahmers should be prowling our streets any day now — and for many years to come.
The premise of the post is that the military trains young men and women to be killers and so we should expect them to do just that — and not just with the enemy. Of course, it completely forgets that literally millions of men and women have come through the military since World War II — many of them drafted — and the overwhelming majority go on to have normal lives and don’t kill anything more than a few beers now and then. It also ignores the fact that many of the psychotic killers mentioned in the article may have been already been a murderer or have murderous tendencies before joining the services. It makes no correlation between the type of service the serial killer had, and the fact that he became a murderer. Was he in combat or no? Did he actually kill someone or not? If no combat experience, then how can you equate the two?
Exit question — can all of you on the far left please drop your bulls**t about supporting the troops? You know, I know, we all know that you don’t. You hate the military, you fear better men and women than yourselves, and you’d rather raise your skirts and bend over to receive the next strike from our enemies than actually go out and do something about it.

I think they believe that the terrorists won’t kill THEM - just US.
Idiots!
Can you imagine what sort of grief the KOStards would be receiving in places like Iraq or Afghanistan BEFORE the US struck down the terrorists supporting, blood soaked dictators?
