PVT Scott Thomas Beauchamp isn’t the first real or fake soldier to tell lies about his service, and he won’t be the last.

Bryan at Hot Air has an excellent explanation as to why the The New Republic’s printing of blatant falsehoods about soldiers in Iraq by Beauchamp bothers so many of us on the right, and especially those of us in the milblogging world. Rather than copy large chunks of the post to this site, I’ll just let you read it in full here.

UPDATE - Look’s like Beauchamp’s got more problems on his hands. Not only has he besmirched the reputations of the soldiers around him and his entire company, he’s also got a little problem with Operational Security. Meaning, he has a bad habit of posting potentially sensitive information about his unit’s movement on the internet. And this was before he had even made it into Iraq.

Another long day…cleaning an M16, landscaping, dipping Pro Masks (gas masks to civilians) into strange concotions, a little bit of office work…basically a hodpodge of menially tasks to keep me busy.
We finally got official dates on Iraq deployment:
May 15 - Our Bradleys get shipped to Kuwaite
June 11- Advanced Units move in

June 28 - Bravo Team, second squad, first platoon, Alpha Company, first battalion, 18th brigade, first infantry division (the breakdown of who I belong to) deploys.

(H/T - Confederate Yankee)
