Can I have some chocolate with that racism?
New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was one of the first to throw down the racism card when it came to the federal response to Katrina. Not long after that event, old Ray threw out some of his own racism, with a swirl of sweet confection on top, with comments about how New Orleans was a “chocolate” town.
The “chocolate” concept apparently was also felt by New Orleans District Attorney Eddie Jordan - to the tune of $3.5 million. Check out the video.

Double tap, I’m glad to have found your blog (through Hot Air). My husband is active duty Army and served in Iraq (82nd ABN) in 2003-2004. Unabashedly conservative here as well. I’m going to add you to my blogroll.
I’m the author of the You Tube video but regret I neglected to include a short snippit about the infamous William Jefferson, Congressman from New Orleans who while others were drowning in Katrina ordered the Nat. Guard to row him to his home where he rescued (neighbors? Drowning African Americans?) $9000 from his freezer. Can’t let perfectly good bribe money go to waste.
My recommendation to the Chocolate City construction crew is this: follow in the footsteps of Martin Luther King, JR and spend a little more time concentrating on your character and a lot less time on the color of your skin.
Amy, thanks for coming by and I appreciate the blogroll reference.
