Double Tap Blog is shutting down
Hey All - I’ve been fighting it, but it doesn’t look like I can devote the time this blog deserves right now. I’m finding it’s hard to make witty and snarky comments when I’m focused on a lot of negative issues in my personal life - most notably, my on-going divorce. Between the divorce, work, moving, travel requirements, and everything else, I just haven’t been able to really work at this hobby of mine.
For those of you who never read this blog when it first started, I invite you to go back to the original posts, when I was writing from Iraq. I started this blog while stationed over there, telling about my experiences to my friends and family. I turned to politics when I got back to the states, but I’ve found that it’s difficult to write about partisan politics when you’re an active-duty soldier. There’s just too many restrictions on who I can talk about and what I can say about them. That’s not much fun in an election season.
Thanks to my regulars for hanging in there and dropping by once in awhile. I’d also especially like to thank Mr. Papa for all his help and assistance with this project, including hosting it. He put this site together and was very patient in dealing with this web-design noob.
Some parting thoughts:
- When you see a veteran, no matter what war they fought in, shake their hand and thank them for their service. You can’t imagine the warm feeling that gives guys like me, knowing that our countrymen appreciate our efforts.
- Boys are boys and girls are girls - they are wired differently. Teach your boys to be men, and your girls to be women. Don’t try to turn them into something they are not - especially boys.
- Don’t be a wuss. Learn to defend yourself. There’s not a cop standing on every street corner. Don’t let yourself be a victim.
- The U.S.A.cannot be a great nation if it does not have a great military.
- The U.S.A. cannot be a great nation if it cannot control who comes across its borders.
- Oppose the implementation of any aspect of sharia anytime and anywhere you see it.
- Don’t depend on liberal teachers to teach your children. You should be their first and best instructors.
- White Americans of European ancestry do not have a monopoly on racist attitudes and speech. Some of the folks who yell “racism!” on a regular basis really need to look in the mirror.
- George W. Bush is not the cause of every single negative thing that happens in this country. He isn’t perfect, but he’s also not the anti-Christ.
- Pass more gun control laws, I’ll just buy more guns. And, I’ll know how to shoot them!
- Cute, fuzzy creatures make for tasty meals. They taste even better when I bagged them myself.
- A man that has nothing that he is willing to fight for, is one sorry son-of-a-bitch.

Sorry to see you go Dubbleman!
Snarky, Pithy, Witty, Juvenile remarks aside, I appreciated and forwarded to many anti-Bush nazis all your honest responses to events of the day.
Now… back to those horribly juvenile South Park video posts…
HAHA!!
Cheers!
David
I am disappointed, but definately understand…
Great parting thoughts!
You will be missed - seems to be the month for hanging up blogs - some good ones have gone, and yours is a good one.
Wishing you well with the personal and the professional. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Agreed with everything you posted in your parting thoughts. It was nice reading everything. Good luck in resolving everything.
Oh, and by the way:
*shakes hand*
Thanks for serving our country. I hope to join you as a Marine in a couple of months.
This Guy -
Thank you for your future service…
God Bless and keep you.
Thanks folks, I appreciate it.
Since I just browsed your site it feels a loss to hear it going down despite my discovery.
[DIVORCE ... no clue what the causes may have been but it is sad ... been there ... hope, if you have any, the kids survive.]
* I am curious if you can suggest other blogs from troops in hot spots? *
