I have high hopes for the new Hitman movie, mostly because I’m a fan of the game and because I loooove movies featuring hitmen - Pulp Fiction, Leon - The Professional, The Jackal, The Killer, La Femme Nikita, and the like.

Here’s the trailer (let it load). The reviews seem pretty mixed, but given my affinity for genre, I’ll likely go anyway.

UPDATE - I managed to go and see the movie today, and I give it 3 out of 5 stars. The movie is essentially the game on the big screen, and I often saw scenes very similar to what I normally saw playing the game. The movie loses the game’s reliance on the main character being a clone, instead he’s an orphan trained to kill from an early age. This makes me wonder why he and all of his fellow assassins are still bald with a computer bar codes tattooed on the back of their heads. It made sense in the game when he was one of hundreds of clones who all look alike, but it doesn’t make sense when he’s one of just a bunch of multi-ethnic trained killers. There’s plenty of cutting and shooting, and he performs his job with no regard for mercy - the perfect hitman. The one soft spot he shows is for a hooker with a heart he’s forced to pair up with. But even then, he doesn’t know what to do with her when she’s throwing her nubile young self at him. I guess they don’t teach the birds and the bees in assassin school. Overall, a good action film and it satisfied the gamer in me.
