Saluting in the military
Some guys will go out of their way to avoid saluting an officer…
On the other hand, I’ve been passed by a whole group of soldiers, in line and spaced several feet apart, each one throwing me a salute, and all with big grins on their faces. After I got done performing a dozen salutes in the space of 40 feet, I had a nice case of tennis elbow. Funny, guys.

Seriously though, what’s so bad about saluting an officer?
I think the young troops are afraid they’re going to get yelled at about something, so they avoid the “brass”. I have to admit, when I was a brand-new second lieutenant, I tended to avoid anyone who outranked me.
Ah, ok.
