Kamangir, an Iranian blogger, points out that Iranian police have no problem invading homes to deal with petty crimes (like having a satellite dish), but do little to investigate the murder of women by men in their households:

One of the high-commanders of the Police force stated a few days ago that in 63% of cases of murder with a female victim, women are killed by a family member and that “the Police cannot intervene in these cases” [Persian]. The Persian blogger Ghoghnoos (means Phoenix) is outraged by these remarks and asks [Persian],

Why is it that the Police cannot enter a household and intervene when a woman is killed but if Ahmad, for example, has a can of beer in his basement or a satellite dish on his rooftop they have all the rights to enter the place and intervene? Why is it that if Ahmad kills his wife, or his daughter, then the Police cannot go in and intervene?

Of course, Iran isn’t the only country with an honor killing problem. Even in Western nations, where the crimes are investigated, everyone seems afraid to bring up the fact that the perpetrator was Muslim, and the murder was committed based on religious beliefs. Examples:

Six women murdered in Berlin

Father kills daughter because of Christian boyfriend

Honor killings come to the U.S.

And this latest round - Egyptian father kills daughters in Texas

Does the liberal media and internet sites really care about this? That last story about the father killing his daughters is only a few days old. But, scanning through liberal internet forums yields nothing about it (at least that I could find). Yet, on the conservative side, it’s much discussed.

Why is that? Why are conservatives unafraid to point out this kind of cruelty but the liberals, who LOOOOOVE to point out perceived world injustices, ignore these attacks on women?

Perhaps it’s because they can’t blame the eeeevil BushCo for it? (Well, I guess they could, but it would be stretch.) Or maybe it’s because practitioners of the Islamic faith have now become the latest “victim” class of people that must be handled with kid gloves.

I guarantee, if it had been a Christian honor killing, those gloves would have come off.
